Ron Hirst is completing his sixth year as District 2 Reno County Commissioner. He was first elected as a Commissioner in 2016.
Hirst is a lifetime Reno County resident engaged in production agriculture along with renovating houses for rentals. Hirst previously held a Kansas Real Estate Brokerage license and owned and operated a farm financial analysis business. Hirst is a graduate of Kansas State University.
Hirst is the former Mayor of South Hutchinson and past board member of several local and state organizations. Hirst is the former director of the Quest Center for Entrepreneurs and previously served on the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market Advisory Board.
Hirst is currently a member of the Hutchinson / Reno County Chamber of Commerce's Ag Committee. He is a representative on the child care task force for the Reno County Commission. Hirst is a current board member of SCKEDD and K96 Corridor Development Association.
Hirst said, "Above all, as a county commissioner, I believe it is vital to be a servant leader by listening to constituents of not only my district but to all county residents, studying all issues and then informing my fellow commissioners of the reasons for my decisions."
