The Reno County Sheriff's Office hosted a Standardized Field Sobriety Training Course at the Reno County Correctional Facility. All rural law enforcement agencies were invited to participate in the course which were Buhler, Haven, South Hutchinson, USD 309 and the local Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks Game Wardens. The class was taught by the Kansas Highway Patrol's Breath Alcohol Unit and incorporated live drinkers, a benefit for participants to work with intoxicated people to view real clues of impairment. The live drinkers were closely monitored and safely returned home after the event. Each Sheriff Deputy and Law Enforcement participant had to take a written exam and be tested in front of an instructor in order to pass the course.
