Physical Activity

Being physically active is one of the most important things we can do to stay healthy. However, most people do not do enough physical activity. No matter who you are, we can all benefit from physical activity and the more you do, the greater the health benefits and the better you'll feel. The Health Education and Promotion program is working to provide resources for Reno County residents to help you become more active.

Benefits of Staying Active

In this section, you can find information about the recommended amounts of physical activity for adults, youth, and children, as well as tips to get more activity into your daily routine and learn more about the health benefits to staying active.

Recommended Weekly Exercise

You don’t have to go to the gym five times a week to be healthy. For instance, a 45 minute walk at a brisk pace (three to four miles per hour) can burn up to 300 calories. Evan making small changes in your daily routine, like parking further away, taking the stairs, and playing active games with your kids, can help you can start living a more healthy, active lifestyle.
