Reno County Health Department has received a grant for 2017 for Mosquito Surveillance. We will be able to monitor the mosquitoes weekly with the help of KDHE and Kansas Biological Survey. We will be able to be proactive with the pesky mosquitoes in our area.
Mosquito Monitoring allows us to identify the types of mosquitoes found in our area. Culex mosquitoes are the known carriers of West Nile Virus. Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus are the known carriers for Zika, dengue, and chikungunya virus.
